My visit to MIT was an enriching introduction to one of the greatest universities in the world. A favorite aspect of my visit was observing multiple instances of group collaboration.  While walking through the halls of MIT, I noticed the enthusiastic interaction happening in small groups with students looking very engaged in their studies. People were willing to collaborate with others in order to succeed in the process of going through MIT. Students have a “pizza party” where they come together and do homework.   I like the fact that in the first semester they grade with a pass/no record while you can take any class from any major of your choice.  It also surprised me that you can take courses at Harvard and other universities in Boston. Students should be interested in MIT because they have a chance to study in a class taught by Nobel Prize winning professors.  Students would find the highest quality education at MIT an exciting challenge, going head to head with some of the most brilliants minds in the world.

The most important factors to be considered when choosing an out-of-state university in order of priority are first, the financial cost (how you are going to pay for college), second, appropriate housing to fit your need, and third, willingness to be by yourself. The experience of attending a class at MIT was fantastic because the professor discussed some interesting theories on subject matters that are appealing to my taste. The campus was vast, beautiful and clean.  The architecture was remarkable.  The atmosphere of the campus was intellectually stimulating; I had the chance to observe all the science labs and enthusiastic interactions between professors and students in a casual setting.Without this visit, I wouldn’t have known about research opportunities that are offered in order to have a unique experience at MIT.   I wouldn’t be able to experience the actual true joy and feeling of independence that a campus life offers. It seemed like the students took a lot of pride in their school; I noticed this when I saw many people wearing the MIT ring. This trip helped me think more about what I should be looking for in colleges I want to apply to, for example, research opportunities offered, internships opportunities, work-study programs, financial aid, being in contact with top-class professors, tips for filling the application and writing the essay.  In sum, this was a wonderful opportunity to see what MIT is all about and have a taste of different opportunities that a 4-year college has to offer.
